Synopsis via Goodreads:

After breaking up with her bad-news boyfriend, Reagan O’Neill is ready to leave her rebellious ways behind. . . and her best friend, country superstar Lilah Montgomery, is nursing a broken heart of her own. Fortunately, Lilah’s 24-city tour is about to kick off, offering a perfect opportunity for a girls-only summer of break-up ballads and healing hearts. But when Matt Finch joins the tour as its opening act, his boy-next-door charm proves difficult for Reagan to resist, despite her vow to live a drama-free existence. This summer, Reagan and Lilah will navigate the ups and downs of fame and friendship as they come to see that giving your heart to the right person is always a risk worth taking. A fresh new voice in contemporary romance, Emery Lord’s gorgeous writing hits all the right notes.

"Hey there Delilah, I know times are getting hard. But me believe me girl..."

This story isn't about you! It's about the forever faithful best friend and sidekick, Reagan. If you must know Reagan has her name in a song too. Want to guess the name of the song?

Seriously, I don't think I'll be able to convey how much I adored this book. Reagan is a troubled teen who is looking for a fresh start and so she heads on the road with her BFF, a major country star, for her summer tour. While on tour Reagan begins to enjoy the nostalgic BFF time watching Dee (Lilah to everyone else) perform and taking photos... until Matt. Yes, there's a boy! Surprisingly, Reagan is less than thrilled about Matt joining the tour because it means sharing Lilah. So basically nothing turns out how we thought and there's feels... lots. of. feels.

All of this amounts to an amazing summer read about friendship, forgiveness and starting over. Written in lyrical prose readers are guaranteed a great read filled with laughter, hugs and a sense of familiarity. You know Reagan, you know Lilah and there's a Matt in your life; all loveably flawed people that you cannot live without.

My reading musical ADD moments:

The references to Bob Dylan. I had to stop for an hour and watch Bob on YouTube. Plus, envisioning the lyrics tattooed on Matt ... swoon!

The song lyrics throughout the book. I love how this poetry was woven into the story line. When have you ever listened to music and not been transported into a different place and time? Music is all about feel and these lyrics do not fall short. Some big info is revealed through verse as you work through the story, eeepppp! There were two lyric moments when I actually squealed and put my face in a pillow while kicking... kind of like this but way more dramatic...

4.5 Stars – I'm loved this! I'm so glad I worked it into my reading schedule and I'll probably read it one day to help me move on, or laugh, or just remember how awesome these people are. Read it!!
