[Top Ten Tuesday] Top 10 Books in YA Contemporary

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

My Top 10 Books in YA Realistic Fiction

in no particular order
  1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - because I have never cried for and cheered on a love story like this.
  2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - because I felt okay being a fangirl in public after reading, I miss my sister and explaining your geek is difficult.
  3. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton - because no tells a story quiet like S.E. Hinton
  4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky - because I made my dad read it even the parts that made him uncomfortable. And, maybe I needed to know someone else understood.
  5. Go Ask Alice by Anonymous - because i needed a stranger's voice to tell me "stop!"
  6. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - because i have an unexplained connection to WW2 fiction and the Jewish people
  7. The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough - because my name is meghann
  8. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - because I will always be a tireless advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves
  9. The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros - because I preformed this in high school debate competitions... nerd alert!
  10. Maya's Notebook by Isabel Allende - because after spending eight years in college, I didn't think I would love to read again. Plus, it reminded me of so many people I've met over time.

Tell me, what are your YA realistic fiction picks?

  1. Great picks! I love contemporary fiction but have only read a few of these myself. The Fault In Our Stars, which is really great. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favourites, such a brilliant book. Will have to add some of these to my own TBR list. My TTT.
