[Promo: Side Effects May Vary] My Bucket List

This post is inspired by the book Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy. Julie has asked bloggers to share their lists as we anticipate the release of her book on March 18! On release day, look for the wrap-up post on OneFour KidLit to see other's bucket lists.

I LOVE lists and I LOVE knocking things off my list. Here are a few of the items on mine, as well as a link to my exhaustive list...

Bucket List

1. Complete a half marathon!

I've done this twice! I cannot explain 1) How awesome it is to finish and 2) You'd be amazed by what your body and mind can do. I've been on the bigger side my whole life so I never thought this would be possible. But it was, twice. AMAZEBALLS!

2. Go White Water Rafting

This was an amazing trip! At one point we were "cowboy surfing" and everyone fell out of the raft but the guide and myself. I cannot explain how exhilarating this was, I felt so powerful. I also jumped off a cliff into the water during this trip which is not in my nature... at all.

3. Backpack Europe

I've been so fortunate to backpack Europe on three occasions, twice with Girl Scouts and once with my lil sis (plus, two trips are pending in 2015). There's something amazing about hostels (I know, call me crazy), lugging everything on your back and getting lost.

Countries I've been to: Spain-England-Ireland-France-Italy-Switzerland-Germany (My heart belongs here!)-Finland-Estonia-Latvia-Lithuania-Greece-Vatican City State

Other things on the TBD list:
  1. Review 1,000 books
  2. Dress in authentic Cosplay
  3. Take a cruise (Fall 2014!)
  4. Complete a NYTimes Crossword puzzle
  5. Buy an around-the-world plane ticket
  6. Attend Fashion Week
  7. Sell a piece of artwork
  8. Learn to play one song on the guitar
  9. Complete a marathon
  10. Sell everything that isn't essential to my health/wellbeing.
Full list is here.

Side Effects May Vary

Synopsis via Goodreads:

When sixteen-year-old Alice is diagnosed with leukemia, her prognosis is grim. To maximize the time she does have, she vows to spend her final months righting wrongs—however she sees fit. She convinces her friend Harvey, whom she knows has always had feelings for her, to help her with a crazy bucket list that’s as much about revenge (humiliating her ex-boyfriend and getting back at her arch nemesis) as it is about hope (doing something unexpectedly kind for a stranger and reliving some childhood memories). But just when Alice’s scores are settled, she goes into remission.

Now Alice is forced to face the consequences of all that she’s said and done, as well as her true feelings for Harvey. But has she done irreparable damage to the people around her, and to the one person who matters most?

Author Julie Murphy

Julie lives in North Texas with her husband who loves her, her dog who adores her, and her cat who tolerates her. When she's not writing or trying to catch stray cats, she works at an academic library. Side Effects May Vary is Julie's debut novel.
